I scammed my way into Emmy parties and here are my hair and makeup looks I did my damn self. Night 1.
/Hello beautiful hunnies!
The Emmy awards were this weekend, and although I am offended that my invitation somehow got lost in the mail, I did end up getting to go to two very glam and exciting Emmy parties. Because I am a proud C.A.B. (cheap ass bitch) I decided to do my own hair and makeup, and am happy with how my looks came out.
What did I use and how did I pull it all off? Keep reading to find out!
Emmy Party Night 1
A lime moment at the Hollywood Reporter party
Dress
My dress is a Christian Siriano, but of course I didn't pay for that.
I used Rent the Runway, the ultimate destination for the C.A.B. that likes to look fly. I use Rent the Runway Unlimited on-and-off (you can freeze it whenever) and you basically always have 4 pieces of designer clothes at once, then you send them back (you don't have to wash them or anything) and then they send you more cute clothes that you pick out from their stock- as many times as you want for the month for about 150 bucks. It's basically like old school Netflix, but with clothes and not DVDs. If I have multiple events in a month, it's always RTR. I am so done with buying an expensive dress, having a moment in it, and never wearing it again. We are done with waste, sweetie- this is chic, done sustainable! They also recycle their plastic and ship using cloth bags. I don't work with them (although I would love to- HI RTR!) but I do have a personal referral code you can use to get 40 dollars off, that will give me credit, too.
Hair
I used my Hair Shop extensions as always.
And just a note on the hair: If you are concerned about the ethics of hair extensions, do your research and proceed with caution. I bought my set in 2016, before I was an informed Natch Beaut, and I will not purchase hair again without being positive it was ethically sourced.
They have been professionally colored to match my current dark brown to red balayage. I basically just brushed them out and popped them in. They were already slightly curled from the last time I wore them (Hayley's wedding.)
My hair had some natural texture to it due to In Common Magic Myst, and I used my trusty dusty IGK's 30000 feet texture spray to get the extensions to grip to my thin ass hair.
Face
I prepped my skin with my Hero product- the Loli Beauty Natch Beaut Pank elixir.
Next step was the primer I am obsessed with, the Graydon Skin Face Glow.
It's life changing! It smooths you out like a real life insta-filter with this ever so subtle shimmer glow. It looks bomb under makeup or just solo. You can get it (along with other favorites I discovered at Indie Beauty Expo) in my Shop Indie Boutique! Graydon's Fullmoon serum, which is lovely, is also in there. And you will get 20% off your order if you use code JACKIE20.
I did my concealer FIRST which is new for me, and did a new technique. My friend Molly is a beauty blogger and one of her viral hits is a video all about concealer technique if you are in your 30's or 40's. It was really life-changing and I get why it went viral. Watch it here and let me know what you think. She rules!
And this technique really served me, so it will be my go-to moving forward. I used my favorite concealer, the Cover FX power play, which has 30 shades! I am shade N Light 1.
And the setting spray I used was the Cover Girl Outlast active cooling setting mist.
For foundation, I used my Wander Beauty Nude Illusion. The coverage is so divine and perfect for a glam night. Shade "Fair" is a perfect match for me.
I blended it with my beauty blender of course!
My eyes were done using exclusively the Aether Beauty Rose Quartz Crystal Gemstone Palette- every shade is cool-toned so I knew it would go well with my lime green dress.
I did a cut-crease with loose silver holographic glitter by BH Cosmetics. I stuck it to my lid using the Cover FX concealer, but then did an additional layer dipping my brush into my Duo lash glue, which ended up really working well and really making the glitter GLEAM, honey. The glue didn't actually hit my lids, just the layer of glitter, so it washed off like a dream at the end of the night.
Brows, I used Glossier Brow flick in brown and blonde- I mix cause I'm tedious!
Highlight was the Glossier Play Nite Shine highlighter concentrate in pale pearl. I topped it with the shimmer shade "divine" from the Aether Beauty palette so I would blind everyone I came into contact with. This is my go-to highlight combo of the season.
Lips, I did the Wander Beauty Lip retreat oil in Spa Day. It feels so good on and doesn't dry you up at all. The That's So Retrograde gals recommended this to me, and yeah- it's fab.
I had so much fun at both parties, but the real fun was had at my mirror creating my lewks. I also took all the pics with my brand new iPhone 11 Pro- and these are all unfiltered and un-edited!
Thank you for reading the Natch Blog- stay snatched, hunnies.
